A name and mark from first principles

Abovus Architects began in 2008 with a name and identity created for a new Belgrade architecture practice. The name combines ab ovo and above us, linking first principles with ideas beyond the immediately visible.

A lowercase a, shaped as an architectural arch, became the foundation of the system and has remained its most stable element ever since.

Evolving the system, not replacing it

In 2016, the identity was expanded around the unchanged original mark, introducing new typography, color and layout principles.

The refreshed system extended across stationery, posters, apparel and social profiles, creating a more flexible and consistent presence.

A digital home for the practice

A new WordPress website brought Abovus' architecture, interiors, furniture and product work into one coherent digital presence.

The platform continued to evolve through ongoing design, development and technical support.

Designed to keep working

The identity continued to expand across team materials, event communication and branded objects without losing its central idea.

It also extended into Abovus' product work, including identity and packaging for the VAL desk organizer.

Built to evolve

Created in 2008 and substantially evolved in 2016, Abovus is a long-term identity built around a durable name and a simple architectural monogram.

Nearly two decades later, the same idea continues across the studio's communication, digital platforms and product work.
